The first race of the 2005-6 British Indoor Winter Series took place 20 November, and with 130 racers signed up it promised to be a full house for the Sheffield & District MCC! As usual, racers started showing up at 7 AM - with practice starting at half past, there were pit spaces to claim and a new track to conquer!

The race to Top Qualifier position this day was only between Dan Fallows and Karl Marsden. Dan is the British Junior National Champion two years running and Karl is a former TORC Champion, among other things. Coming out of 'retirement' didn't require much from him except a new car (XRAY's top of the line T1FK'05) and a quick brushing off of the cobwebs, as he qualified in the top spot after four rounds of qualifying! Dan was just behind Karl in second in his Hot Bodies Cyclone, whilst Ben Cosgrove was just getting used to his Cyclone and qualified third.

In the A Final, Dan capitalised on a few mistakes on Karl's part and took over the lead. Typical of Dan's racing, he was as cool as ice and didn't give in to any pressure, taking the win and the first top score for the 2005-6 British Indoor Winter Series! Ben would finish in third, driving one of two Cyclones. Two Pro 4's made the A, with three more T1FK'05 cars mixed among the top ten drivers.

19T Super Stock was definitely the largest class of the two represented, with over eighty drivers registered! With such a large pool of drivers the top ten spots would be hard to break into for most. The pole spot for the Super Stock class bounced around several drivers, but even a heroic last-round super run from Tom Stanway, moving him up some 30 spots to third qualifier, couldn't keep the XRAY T1FK'05 of Jimmy Maddison off the sharp end of the grid.

During the A Final, Tom got past second qualifier Paul Oscroft and was catching leader Jimmy until a backmarker slowed Tom down a bit too much. Tom would happily finish second as Jimmy took the win and Phil Chambers crossed the line in third place. XRAY's T1FK'05 car represented the majority of the cars in the 19T A Final, with 6 occupying the top ten spots of the 19T class, including first and second overall!
